Layer 3 Degen Chain Faces 11-Hour Block Production Halt
Quick Take:
- Layer 3 Degen Chain experiences operational downtime.
- Network hasn’t produced a block in over 11 hours.
Layer 3 Degen Chain, designed for the Degen meme token on Ethereum, has hit a snag, with a halt in block production affecting its services.
The unexpected downtime struck, leaving the network unable to validate new transactions for more than 11 hours, starting when it stalled at block #15524774 around 4:15 p.m. ET on Sunday.
This outage has left various decentralized applications and bridges on Degen Chain, such as Relay bridge, DegenSwap, Mint Club, and Frogswap, non-functional, hampering user transactions.
The Degen Chain team is actively collaborating with the rollup infrastructure platform Conduit to address the downtime.
Operating on the Arbitrum Orbit tech stack and settling primarily on Base while employing the AnyTrust protocol for data availability, Degen Chain was developed by Syndicate, a Web3 services provider, in late March. Presently, it hosts $2.6 million in total value locked (TVL), as per DeFiLlama data.
Degen Chain stands out for using Degen as its native gas token instead of ETH. Degen, an ERC-20 token on Base, originated in the Degen channel on Farcaster in January 2024.
Despite the network issues, the on-chain activities of the Degen token on Base remain unaffected, continuing without disruption.
